    Part 1

Not My Cat has been hanging around for a few days and was crying at my front door this evening……...

She's a lovely little tortoiseshell girl, can't be more than a year old and is really affectionate. I checked her over and as she seemed cold and a bit thin I've made her up a bed in our outhouse and given her some food and water. If she's still around in the morning, I'll take her to the vet and get her chip read. We don't need a third cat!!

    Part 2

UPDATE: last night's little tortoiseshell cat came back with a friend, and pics of our two actual cats...

The plan was to see if I could get the little cat to our vet to get her chip read and have her properly checked over. The vet closes at 7pm and she waited until about half 7 before reappearing (typical cat!) but the surprise was that she brought a friend with her...! A silver tabby (pictured) who is a little shyer than her. I'm no further forward with what her story is, however, I've fed her again and upgraded her box bed by swapping it for a cat carrier, with a nice thick piece carpet inside, a

I do wonder if her friend is a tomcat who is interested in her for non-wholesome reasons. Anyway, she's fed, watered and comfortable for the night if needed and I'll try again to get her to the vet if needed. Finally, by popular request, I've added some pictures of our two furballs, in various states of relaxation. Ginge and Saffy. I'll let you guess which is which. Ginge is on my lap as I wrote this! More updates when I have them...

    Part 3

SECOND UPDATE: the little tortoiseshell cat is now safe and warm in a forever home, if needed.
  • 16
I left last night's update with the little cat having been fed and with a bed in our outhouse for the night. however at about midnight, we heard sounds of distress, and I went out to check on her. The tabby Tomcat was back and either trying to fight, or more likely trying to mate with her, so I had to take action to protect her. The only place where I could be sure she would be safe and secure was the toilet in my workshop (I have a few classic cars and built a workshop with all mod- cons so I c

This morning I phoned the vet and was able to take her down there to check for a chip and also give her a health check. Sadly no chip was detected, but other than being underweight, she got a clean bill of health, or at least passed a visual inspection! I then took her home and walked the entire length of my street knocking on doors and asking if anyone knew whose she was - several people had seen her, but nobody knew where she had come from. Last night I posted a few pictures of her in my famil

took a bit of persuasion, but at 4pm I convinced my mum to come with me to pick her up and she's now living in their house, initially until we can find her owners, but if we can't she can stay there as her forever home. It's a big house right out in the country, there are loads of fields for her to go hunting in, a big garden to call home, an open fire for those cold winter nights, and best of all, a big gas- powered Rayburn (like an Aga) where she can sleep at night. All their cats have had a b

We've put adverts up and contacted all the local cat charities with her picture and information so if somebody is looking for her they will hopefully find her, but if not she'll be just fine. Tonight is her first night in the warm with plentiful food and snuggles. Pics attached, the last one is of her on my mum's lap, about an hour after arriving in the house! Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement - one more sweet little cat is living her best life!!MU

AngelaMotorman - 6 days ago Good work! Please tell your mum the kitty needs to be kept indoors for a few weeks before being let out to roam. I usually take newcomers out after that period to walk around the boundaries of the yard (on a leash or in my arms) to make sure they can recognize what it would mean to find their way back to their new home. It's easier if the kitty was able to see the yard from windows on all sides. It also helps with the unfortunate reality that cats who are moved after

Longshot1969. 5 days ago Cute kitty, glad she has a home now. FYI, that is actually a calico cat, a wonderful cat type as well. Had one for over 10 years, no regrets. 20 Reply Share PsychicCaramelle. 5 days ago Don't know where OP is but in the UK for example the term calico isn't so common, we tend to just call them all torties/tortie and white. The best kind of cats regardless imo 14 Reply Share
